In the heart of Knightsbridge, 5-Star Jumeriah Carlton Tower hotel recently launched its Scottish Winter Terrace. We went along to the launch, held in the hotel's ‘Rib Room’, and had a fantastically Scottish evening.
We arrived to find that the Rib Room’s heated terrace was rather cosy and mimicked that of a Scottish pine forest, with tartan cushions, blankets, twinkling lights and barrel furniture.
Inside, the Rib Room was complete with Scottish decor - fly fishing rods, Shetland lace and stag motifs. The Rib Room’s resident band entertained us with live music and we were greeted with a choice of delicious festive cocktails incorporating 18-year-old Glenfiddich whisky. I opted for the “Goodness Me” Glenfiddich which had flavours of Pomegranate liqueur, Sloe gin, Sage syrup, Lemon juice, Angostura bitter, Egg white, and Raspberry.
To accompany our cocktails, we tried some of Campbell’s Meats Smoked Salmon. The fish was freshly caught and infused with smoke from whiskey barrel oak chippings - this was without a doubt some of the best smoked salmon I’ve ever eaten. This was served with crackers and made a great accompaniment to our whisky cocktails.
Also available was a menu of light and delicious bites created by Head Chef Simon Young, featuring some of Scotland’s classic dishes - Haggis and lamb neck fritters with winter spiced bramble jam; Black pudding scotch quail egg with homemade brown sauce; and “Cock-a-leekie” pasties served with sweet cured bacon and Scotch whisky jam.
The pop up is open until 25th January 2017, I would wholly recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening out this winter.
